Sadarak district is situated in the outermost northwestof the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The district has border with Turkey at the length of 11 km and Armenia (24 km). Landscape of the region on the north and east is mountainous and lowland - along Araz River. Climate is dry, continental. Summer is hot, winter is cold. Garachay, Chapan Rivers run through the territory of the district and along the border with Turkey - Araz River. Spring sources of herbal features were discovered in the village of Sadarak in 1980, which waters are close to the waters of "Istisu" and "Gzeleznovodsk" spring by the features. Administrative center of the region is Heydarabad. The basis of economics of the region is grain growing, cattle breeding, wine growing and wine making.
A result of conduction of the archeological digs, ancient settlements related to IV-III B.C. were discovered in the south of the district. Remains of the large settlement existing in the Middle Age were discovered in the north of the district. Historical monuments: remains of Sadarak fortress, three medieval mosques, ruins of the defense constructions, caravanserais, Agoglan Pir, bath of XIX-XX centuries have been saved in the territory of the region.
